Approximately 25,000 homes in Queensland's southeast woke up lacking electricity on Monday morning after powerful weather events impacted the state, bringing strong winds topping over 100 km/h.

Locals reported large ice chunks as large as 7cm in certain regions. The Bureau of Meteorology verified that multiple regions across Queensland had been affected by large hailstones.

Southern State's Storm Challenges
At the same time, around one thousand residents in Victoria also encountered energy failures after the metropolitan area recorded its most precipitation in 18 months.
State Emergency Services responded to nearly 600 calls for help across the area, primarily for structural issues but also for downed trees and flooding.
