Mystery Pink Slime on Isolated Tasmanian Shoreline Raises Concerns of Potential Algal Bloom
Officials in Tasmania are attempting to pinpoint a magenta ooze that has materialized on a remote shoreline, with certain experts concerned it could be an algal bloom.
Extensive Appearance On Shore
The magenta-hued slime appeared along a stretch of a southern bay about 37 miles south of Hobart. A comparable ooze has also been recorded on sections of Little Roaring Beach and Little Taylors Bay.

Lilly Henley, who took samples of the magenta ooze in the state, stated it seemed the potential proliferation had "grown significantly" and proposed the aquaculture sector was the most likely culprit, citing similar cases in other places.
"So Tasmania needs to send a firm alert here, the authorities and the environmental agency need to respond to this. We need to examine the examples we've gathered and we need to notify the community here," she stated.
